Mentoring is about the Pursuit of Purpose
Happy Lucky month to you all!
Isn’t it amazing that we equate the month of March with basically two things? Luck and the potential beginning of Spring… Both thoughts should bring a smile to our face. The opportunity to be in a positive place, (with a thought of what your “luck” could bring you) along with the renewal of the upcoming season.
As the seasons change, we should acknowledge the change of seasons in our own lives. We should not stay the same. Just as the spring season symbolizes growth and a new perspective of color, so the same should be reflective in our lives. Ask yourself; have I acknowledged this new season? Have I done anything in my personal, academic and or professional life to encourage growth and development?
As I mentioned in my past newsletters, it is important that we evaluate and re-evaluate where we are in our lives. In order for us to do well, an assessment must be made where we are currently. Unfortunately, we tend to be too occupied with thoughts, actions or deeds that take our focus off being centered. Believe me, this is not a bad thing; but we rarely assess what is of great importance. My friends, we must evaluate our lives on a regular basis.
Remember, for us to fulfill our purpose, we have to first understand our calling. As you know, mentoring is not only my passion, but my purpose. It is something that I would do for free because it is my purpose. What makes it wonderful for me is that it is also my passion.
I challenge you in this month of “ luck and rejuvenation ” that you take stock of what your purpose and passions are. Mind you, I did not say “goals”; that’s different. Assess you first, and then you can assist and mentor others… that’s the correct order of things.
